Shields (shields_mtg)

Adds responsive, functional 3D shields to Minetest Game / Luanti with directional blocking mechanics, smooth animations, custom sound effects, and inventory integration.

Features

• 3D Interactive Shields: Shields render smoothly in 3D in front of your character, featuring fluid lerp animations when switching between idle and blocking poses.
• Directional Blocking: Hold Right-Click (RMB) to raise your shield. It blocks incoming damage from the front (~140° frontal cone). Flank and rear attacks will still bypass the block!
• Dedicated Equipment Slot: Fully integrated with sfinv. Adds a dedicated shield slot page to the player inventory. (Can also be used directly from the active hotbar slot).
• Audio & Visual FX: Features wooden and metallic impact sounds upon blocking, tool breakage sounds, and a custom 3D mesh model when dropped on the ground.
• Durability: Balanced for survival gameplay with 337 total durability points scaling with absorbed damage.

How to Use

1. Equip: Place the shield in the Shield tab inside your sfinv inventory, or hold it directly in your hand.
2. Block: Hold Right-Click (RMB) while facing incoming attacks to absorb frontal damage.
