Command Book (cmdbook) Mod

A highly customizable server utility mod for Luanti/Minetest. It adds an interactive interface to map up to 18 chat commands to simple buttons. Players can use server defaults or configure their own button profiles.

=== Main Features ===

  • 18-Button Layout: Displays actions across 3 columns of 6 buttons each.
  • Personal Overrides: Allows any user to map personalized commands using simple chat controls.
  • Data Portability: Dump or restore layout backups using simple text files.

=== Chat Commands ===

  • /addcmdbook Permission: Any Player Description: Gives a Command Book item to yourself (built-in 10-second spam protection cooldown).

  • /setbookcmd <1-18> Permission: Any Player Description: Customizes a specific button slot on your personal profile. Supports parameters with spaces.

  • /dumpcmdbook [player] Permission: Any Player / Admin Description: Saves layout to a file. Regular users can dump their own profiles. Admins can dump other players' setups.

  • /loadcmdbook [player] Permission: Any Player / Admin Description: Restores a layout configuration profile from file storage.

=== File Layout and Synchronization Priorities ===

  1. Dumping Profile Data: Saves the primary configuration file straight to your active server directory under "world/cmdBookList_username.txt" and mirrors a backup copy to the global persistent folder "Minetest/mod_data/cmdbook/".
  2. Restoring Profile Data: When reading settings during a reload step, the loader scans your World folder first. If missing, it falls back to your global tracking history stored inside the mod_data folder.

--- Configuration Format Structure --- Data exports into clean, simple comma-separated columns:

Button001,/grantme all
Button002,/time 19000
Button003,/time 5500
Button004,
Button005,

  • Leaving a field completely blank after the comma automatically resets that button position to follow the global server default values instead if present.
