dumpinv Starter Kit Creator

An administration tool for Minetest servers designed to turn any active player layout or 3D Armor layout directly into a reusable starter kit configuration.

Features

• RAM Caching: Starter kit items load instantly from memory on player join.
• Multi-Profile Layouts: Save multiple different equipment setups using suffix flags.
• Class Selection Book: Gives new players an interactive book to choose their setup. Drops old inventory items. added support to display up to 18 starter kit classes (they load in alphabetic order). default now is to auto give a new player the class chooser book.
• Safe Error-Checking: Cross-checks if individual items are registered before adding them.

Administrative Chat Commands

All commands require the dumpinv privilege to execute.

/dumpinv

Syntax: /dumpinv [-s suffix] [playername]

• Running it alone saves your inventory into inventory_dump.txt.
• Using -s saves into inventory_dump_suffix.txt (Example: /dumpinv -s warrior).
• Adding a player name saves that specific player's current layout.

/loadinvto

Syntax: /loadinvto [-s suffix] [playername]

• Running it without a player name reloads the active memory cache from that text file.
• Adding a player name clears that player's inventory and gives them the items from that kit profile.

Directory Priority Order

When reading profiles or showing buttons in the book, the mod searches folders in this order. The first one found wins:

1. World Path: /inventory_dump.txt
2. Mod Data Path: Global storage space for the mod data.
3. Mod Path: Internal mod root folder.

Customizable Settings

Adjust these settings in your minetest.conf file or via Main Menu -> Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Mods -> dumpinv:

• dumpinv_use_book: Set to true to give joining players a class selection book. Set to false to give the default kit instantly.
• dumpinv_armor_delay: The time in seconds the script waits before equipping 3D Armor items on player join. Default is 3.0.

Validation Rules

• Custom suffixes must not contain spaces.
• Suffixes only allow alphanumeric characters, dashes, and underscores: [a-zA-Z0-9_-]
