Delver's Realm

Delver's Realm is a survival sandbox game for Luanti in a nostalgic and fun flavor. Survive and thrive in a nearly infinite world with traversable dimensions. Find the ultimate source of light and subdue the world in which you spawned.

Delver's Realm is a fork of VoxeLibre which was originally forked from MineClone (by davedevils) as MineClone 2, then renamed and heavily improved. Developed by hunter0one, but credits for VoxeLibre/MineClone 2 can be found in the CREDITS file. It makes full use of the Luanti engine, allowing players to traverse roughly 60,000 nodes horizontally and 61,839 nodes vertically. Delver's Realm is wholly free software, licensed under the GPL version 3 or later. Textures and other media can be found under various licenses, please see per mod CREDITS or README files.

Differences between Delver's Realm and Mineclonia/VoxeLibre:

  • The ability to physically traverse the dimensions.
  • Multiple dimensions, including the Underworld (Nether equivalent), the Welkin (an Aether-like dimension), and Space.
  • Tiered lighting. You start with lower light sources like campfires or catching lightning bugs, and are recommended to hold torches to explore caves. As you progress you will find better sources of light, most notably Mese!
  • Beta-style terrain, combat, and a food stack size of 16 (a slightly more lenient stack size inspired by MC Alpha/Beta)
  • Dungeon Masters, rats, sky chickens and other new mobs!
  • Custom skins support provided by the libskinupload mod by Signal_
  • Furniture and other decoration provided by the mcl_furniture mod by rudzik8.
  • More foods such as fried eggs, chocolate, and more! (more_foods mod by rudzik8)
  • More decorative nodes
  • Options to disable tool durability or have a starter house
  • Stacks are 80 instead of 64

How to play Delver's Realm

You will start in an unforgiving universe known as the Delver's Realm. Your first course of action should be to collect logs, sticks, and coal to build a campfire. With the campfire, you will be able to light torches by right clicking on it (or combining unlit torches with flint and steel). The torch is not a plentiful light source, it is better suited for holding in your offhand as you explore caves.

Other cheap light sources include lightning bugs that you catch with a bug net or candles which you can make from wax. As you delve deeper into the depths below, you will eventually come across a thick layer of obsidian. Below the obsidian you will enter the Underworld, a dark and foreboding dimension which is home to Mese, a bright yellow crystalline substance adored for its lighting properties. Mese can also be used with water buckets to create a portal to the Welkin, a heavenly dimension where you will find plentiful quartz, gold, and copper. Alternatively, you can build high enough to get to the Welkin or even to space.

Space can be accessed with a portal as well, but this requires finding crying obsidian, something only found in meteor crash sites in the Overworld. If you find enough, you can build a portal out of the crying obsidian and use a water bucket to initialize it. The portals only work in the Overworld, given its mysterious connection to the lands above. Beware the vacuum of space, however, as it is unbreathable. You will need a space helmet or potions of water breathing to survive.

Like MTG or pre-1.8 the other block game, there is no real goal besides to go from surviving in a small hovel to reigning and thriving over all of the dimensions. There are plenty of mysteries and other things unmentioned for you to discover. This game was made with love and inspiration from past games and I hope you enjoy it.

Delver's Realm is developed on the Mesehub Forgejo instance. It was originally developed on hunter0one's personal Gitweb instance hosted on I2P, which is now simply a mirror that syncs with Mesehub weekly.
