# Settings for the Codecube game, shown in the advanced settings under
# Content: Games.
#
# Editing THIS file changes nothing in a running game. The engine does not
# read defaults from settingtypes.txt - it only parses it to draw the
# settings menu. The real default is the one in the game's minetest.conf, and
# the two are kept in step by hand: change one, change the other.

[Codecube]

# Half-extent of the world, in nodes, measured from the origin on every axis.
# 4096 gives a field 8080 nodes on a side, with a bedrock floor at y = 0 and
# a see-through barrier wall around it. It bounds the drone as well as the
# player, so a program cannot build past the wall either.
#
# The engine stores this per world, so changing it moves the edge of an
# existing world: raise it and the old wall stays where it was generated,
# lower it and ground already generated outside the new wall is stranded
# beyond it.
#
# The wall does not stand exactly at this number. Only whole mapchunks that
# fall inside the limit are generated, so the last generated column falls
# short of it by up to one mapchunk - 80 nodes at the default chunksize, and
# that shortfall is the same however large the world is. At 4096 the wall
# stands at -4032 and 4047 on each of x and z, so the field is 8080 nodes on
# a side rather than 8192.

# Y of the grass surface, and so the height a player stands at. The bedrock
# floor stays at y = 0 whatever this is, so the number is also how deep the
# dirt under the surface goes: 128 buries the floor well out of sight, and 8,
# the engine's own default, leaves it a few steps down.
#
# The engine stores this per world too, so changing it moves the surface of an
# existing world - the ground already generated keeps the old height and only
# newly generated ground gets the new one.
#
# It has to stay well inside the world half-extent above: the surface is no
# use above the top of the generated box, and nothing checks the two against
# each other.
